The Embassy of Switzerland in Haiti under the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has been mobilized in the country for many years. The bilateral development cooperation has been supporting two projects, the first in the field of drinking water and sanitation and the second in the field of forest conservation. Ever since the devastating earthquake that struck Port-au-Prince in 2010 and the outbreak of Cholera that same year, Haiti has become the largest recipient of humanitarian aid from the SDC. FingerTec Solves Access Control Issues at the Kangar Municipal Council
The Kangar Municipal Council (MPK) located in the state of Perlis was established during the 1980s and it has portrayed Perlis as a developed and modern state. The council’s vision is to achieve Kangar Peaceful Town Status by 2015 and its missions include increasing the infrastructure and public facilities for the convenience of the trading residents, preparing public transportation including other related infrastructure, develop the Human Capital of the employees and the municipal company and establish a town and residential area environment which is conducive for residence. Recently, MPK wanted to solve access control issues within their premises and have turned to FingerTec reseller, Irasuria Venture Sdn Bhd, for recommendations.
 
Prior to installing FingerTec devices, MPK were not using any other access control devices or methods for their office. After contacting Irasuria and informing them of their needs, our reseller suggested ten units of Face ID 4d to be installed for MPK’s 258 staff members. The devices were installed at the main entrance doors to every department within the office. The staff found it to be difficult to use at first, but gradually, everything went back to normal as staff had gotten themselves accustomed to the terminals and its use. The council did encounter some problems with the device, in particular failing to transfer multiple images via wireless network, but the problem has since been fixed.

Central Finance Company PLC is a private limited liability company based in Kandy, Sri Lanka. Since 2008, the deployment of FingerTec devices within several medical facilities in Penang under the Ministry of Health of Malaysia, such as the Health Administration Office and the Vector Control Unit in North Seberang Perai, have yielded positive results in terms of monitoring staff attendance and productivity. FingerTec Lends A Helping Hand To World Vision Haiti
 
World Vision Haiti is a part of World Vision International, a Christian humanitarian organization based in Seattle, Washington, USA dedicated to working with children, families and communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. This faith-based non-governmental organization has also provided relief supplies and assisted with recovery in the major natural disasters that have ravaged Haiti, including hurricanes, flash floods and the earthquake that struck Port-au-Prince on January 12, 2010. When it comes to the need for access control, FingerTec was proud to be able to help the organization solve this issue with the installation of the H2i in World Vision Haiti.
 
World Vision Haiti had previously been using a normal door lock and has been looking for a solution to secure the branch’s IT department. After much consideration, a FingerTec reseller in Haiti, E-Solutions, suggested one unit of FingerTec H2i to be deployed at the branch for access control purposes. In addition, E-Solutions also bundled the terminal together with the powerful TCMS V2 software. World Vision Haiti was happy with the deployment of H2i in their office as IT professionals can now have access to their department without having to rely on their keys anymore. If they were to lose their keys, they will still have access to the department using their fingers. If an employee were to leave the company for any reason, there is absolutely no need to change the lock as all the branch can do is simply erase the former employee’s fingerprint and data from the terminal.

Lab Dom Suisse Inc. is a Swiss held and globally quartered regenerative medicine and cellular therapy company with regional Asia-Pacific headquarters based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. FingerTec Finds a Fitting Place with BOA Ghana
Bank of Africa – Ghana (BOA Ghana) is a large commercial bank providing financial services such as retail, SME and corporate banking within the West African region and is licensed by Bank of Ghana, the central bank of the country. With 20 branches already in operation, BOA Ghana intends to further solidify their access control system after successfully implementing a FingerTec solution at their head office. With the completion of their new branch in Accra, the bank proceeded to contact authorized FingerTec distributor, Telecomputer Network Systems, for their access control needs.
 
After consulting with Telecomputer, it was decided that 7 units of the R2 device were to be implemented in the newly constructed office building. Dubbed as FingerTec’s bestselling terminal for access control, the device also comes with the powerful TCMS V2 software for easy data management and presentable reporting. This has made it easier for BOA Ghana’s upper management to monitor & control their employees as well as increase the security of some of their rooms.
 
Telecomputer Network Systems has been an active part of the FingerTec family for quite some time, and does not look to slow down in the near future. The Nook Caffe Restaurant is one of Queensland’s finest dining establishments in Australia. Prior to installing FingerTec’s products, Nook took down attendance the old-fashioned way, by manually noting down times and wages on attendance sheets. With a team of 40 people, Nook wanted a new system that was simple to use, convenient, negates buddy punching and false logging, and improve workplace security in terms of wage. With Nook’s needs already been made aware of, BioAccSys was able to propose installing Q2i for their restaurant. In addition to using the Q2i device, Nook also installed the TCMS V2 software and has started to export their data using the report function from the Detailed Attendance Report. Using the TCMS V2 software, they created multiple shifts capabilities using the work code function, which really pleased their customers.
 
Other than FingerTec, there were also other competing companies that exhibited biometrics products. This shows that the industry is growing in Russia, and the demand for biometrics products in the region holds the potential to be even more substantial in the coming years. However, FingerTec’s marketing materials may need to be altered to cater to the local needs. FingerTec Provides Security and Simplicity to Sybaris Residences
Sybaris Residences is an apartment residential project built inside a resort area called Guavaberry Golf and Country Club located in Juan Dolio, southeast of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. This upscale, gated community prides itself in providing facilities and services that ensure a pleasant stay for guests to satisfy even the most discerning patrons. In order to protect their prestigious residences, the management decided to employ an access control system for their residents and a time attendance system for their staff. This is where respected FingerTec distributor, E. Threan & Cia, comes in.
 
After going through the needs and requirements of Sybaris Residences, it was proposed that one H2i device would be installed to record time attendance among their staff. The small-sized reader with a super-sized capacity compliments the luxury residential area well with its sleek and stylish design, and has been positively received by the employees there. On the other hand, 2 units of m-Kadex with proximity cards were installed for Sybaris Residences’ access control purposes. FingerTec Equips Medical Centre with Time Attendance Solution
Taman Desa Medical Centre (TDMC) is owned and managed by TDM Berhad, a public listed company in the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia, and is an established specialist hospital providing quality, affordable medical care. The center provides medical services such as Pediatrics & Children’s Health, Obstetrics, Gynecology & Women’s Health, Orthopedics and others. Modern American School (MAS) is a private co-educational day school established in 1986 and has since grown to host over 1,000 students per year. The demand and popularity of smart card access control & time attendance systems is growing rapidly. Green Island Cement (Holdings) Limited (GIC) operates the only integrated cement plant in Hong Kong and has decided to improve its existing management system by implementing a card access control system to improve its overall operational efficiency.
 
 
When asked about the company’s reception of the FingerTec products, the representative from ULR, Peter, mentioned “(we are) happy with the (installation) and service”. Modern machinery and equipment contribute towards a high-efficiency production line, but staff management problems often become a stumbling stone for sustainable development. Mr. James Wai from GIC’s Maintenance Department mentions; “There were cases where the staff were misplacing and abusing the machines. There was also once where an employee from an outsourcing company used our forklift after office hours and caused an accident”. Wai goes on to explain that they were facing difficulties in keeping track of their staffs’ movements due to there being no records. This has led to the urgent need of employing control over the machinery after office hours, and inspired the company to seek a general smart card access control system.

With an estimated 900 staff nationwide focusing on providing integrated and innovative plastic solutions to the world’s leading companies, the company has progressed far since their incorporation in September 1998. Previously, the company installed FingerTec’s AC800 but has since decided to replace it with a newer model, in line with their vision of creating a fresh, technologically advanced working environment. With this in mind, the company contacted authorized FingerTec distributor, A&N System Enterprise (A&N) to discuss their options.
 
During the consultation period, YPC expressed that they needed a newer solution from FingerTec in checking staff attendance at their Klang and Shah Alam factories where there are roughly 200 total employees. This includes the staff from all departments in both branches. With this in mind, A&N proposed that several units of the TA102, AC100C and R2 devices be installed throughout the two branches. A&N’s Sales & Marketing Manager, Mr. Izwan bin Mohd Yusof, goes on to mention that YPC’s management were very satisfied with the solution provided as it meets the requirements and needs of the manufacturing company.

FingerTec Constructs Solution for International Conglomerate, The Bauer Group
 
The international construction and machinery manufacturing conglomerate, The Bauer Group, is a collection of more than 110 subsidiary businesses with about 9,700 employees in around 70 countries as of 2011. In line with their global expansion, Bauer had recently opened a new office building in Tuas Avenue 11, Singapore.
 
The Germany-based company’s expansion in the Singaporean market has benefited many local firms with business opportunities. As such, Bauer required a cost-efficient time attendance and access control solution for its new building and after due consideration awarded the project to their local FingerTec reseller, Smartsys Solutions Pte. Ltd. After taking into account the client’s specific needs, Smartsys proposed a combination of products from the FingerTec Kadex family to suit Bauer’s requirements.
 
 
As seen in the accompanying diagram, a total of 14 Kadex readers were installed along with 1 m-Kadex and 2 i-Kadex devices. The m-Kadex device used (top right corner in diagram) is customized with lift controller integration while the 2 i-Kadex devices were installed with Kadex readers at the equipment store according to Bauer’s requests. A centralized power distribution is implemented for all the readers, in which a power module with two 37AH SLA batteries were used. Similarly, a fire alarm control panel located in the guard house is also connected to all the doors centrally.

Fingertec Drives Arabia Taxi Group to Better, Centralized Time Attendance Solution
Arabia Taxi Group (ATG), a dynamic transportations entity jointly owned by Sheikh Sohail Bin Khalifa Bin Saeed Al Maktoum and Sheikh Majid Bin Hamad Al Qasimi, has long been a leading taxi company in United Arab Emirates. Recently, ATG was searching through the market for a more systematic solution to collect the attendance report of their staffs located across 5 different emirates in UAE. Most time attendance systems are simply not feasible as ATG had employees transferring within the branches, employees clocking in from one branch and clocking out from another, as well as having 3 different schedules. These conundrums meant that the taxi company needed a centralized system that can collect all records in one central location to generate required reports. In further consultation sessions, the local FingerTec reseller, Mobisat IT Solutions (MITS), helped ATG to identify other requirements and possible obstacles that may be encountered before suggesting a solution.
 
It was found that 75% of the staff had unusable fingerprints, as many of them sustained significant wear and tear from taxi repairing. However, ATG was not interested in using RFID cards or face recognition, which gave MITS no choice but to provide a different biometric solution. The TA200Plus was chosen as it had a variety of verification methods such as fingerprint, card or password. Initially, MITS installed one TA200Plus system at Arabia Taxi Dubai. After its successful implementation, the rest of the five branches followed suit. The data was collected from the head office and the required report was generated from a centralized system with the help of FingerTec’s easily managed and networked attendance solution, TCMS V2.

 
ATG has been very satisfied with their current setup of FingerTec products used. Luqman Hussain of Mobisat IT Solutions goes on to mention that “after the successful implementation, MITS had received an order of 9 units with the same requirement for Habeebee Food Group, which is a sister company of Arabia Taxi Group”.
 
 
FingerTec Brings DKV Automobil Up to Speed with Time Attendance Solution

DKV Automobil, an authorized dealer of Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM), had been experiencing a rough patch with their previous electronic time recorder system. When the system started to malfunction and become faulty, the decision to replace the old with the new was inevitable. Banco Agricolas De La Republica Dominicana (Bagricola) is one of the premier banking institutions in the Dominican Republic itself, being the second bank established in the country. Being in operation since 1945, Bagricola secures the financing of productive activities in the agricultural sector to ensure increased productivity, meet the food demand of the population, as well as modernize production and other export items that support the development of the Dominican Republic’s national agribusiness.
 
Previously, the banking institution did not have any Access Control or Time Attendance systems employed. After consultation sessions with FingerTec reseller, E. Threan & Cia., Bagricola agreed to install the R2 and R2i together with several units of M-Kadex. FingerTec Riding High with Viking International

Kadex Series Wins Over Western Digital, Malaysia
Western Digital (M) Sdn Bhd (WD) is one of the largest computer hard disk drive manufacturers in the world with thousands of employees operating in a factory-like environment. Aquacultural Park, iSHARP, Installs Fingertec, Malaysia
Located in Setiu, Terengganu, iSHARP Setiu Sdn Bhd is a fully integrated aquaculture park developed by Blue Archipelago Berhad for shrimp farming in an orderly and controlled manner. Encompassing an area totaling 1,000 hectares, the company is currently producing up to 3,100 metric tons per annum while employing roughly 250 workers. Planning for the future, iSHARP aims to produce up to 8,900 metric tons per annum while employing a 500-strong workforce by 2015.
 
Previously, the business had never employed any system or devices for Time Attendance or Door Access. After several discussions as well as a demonstration by our reseller, Genggam Efektif (GE), iSHARP was blown away by the success and effectiveness of GE’s previous FingerTec installation projects. FingerTec Customized for Luxury Housing Estate in Hong Kong
FingerTec was recently installed in a prestigious luxury housing estate with 20 blocks in the heart of Hong Kong. Initially, Kadex and i-Kadex MC were used for resident ID verification and installed in every block, carpark as well as the estate main entrance to replace the traditional card access control system.
 
 
As there were no network infrastructures provided, offline USB data communication interface was the only option for the guards to update the Kadex user database from TCMS V2. Although the practice may not be the most efficient, it keeps the housing estate from incurring high costs and eliminates the hassle of developing a network infrastructure of their own.

It was smooth sailing except for one small kink; how can the guards verify residents’ identities with the least fuss when they enter via a vehicle? The estate manager presented this scenario to FingerTec reseller, ASC (HK) Ltd, with the hopes of minimizing the physical effort required by the residents to sign in. The company did not disappoint, coming up with a tailor made portable casing to enclose the FingerTec readers and portable charging battery together.
